Changes to TDT - Spanish Digital Television - Changes to TV in Spain

TDT - Television Digital Terrestrial - is broadcast through waves, occupying a part of the frequency spectrum. This spectrum is shared by TV, radio, telephone and other communications.

So far TV has been using those between 21 and 69 channels.

However, in 2007 the European Commission agreed to allocate part of the spectrum occupied by television to mobile phones of the latest generation, known as 4G. In accordance with the European Directive, the Spanish Government stated that before January 1, 2015 channels 61 to 69, ie, the last 9 in the band used so far, will become available for the 4G.

This is what is called Digital Dividend.

The list below shows the start of each channel available;

Canal Nitro : Lunes 23 Agosto a las 13:30 Horas
Nitro Canal: Monday August 23 at 13:30

Canal + Dos : Lunes 23 de Agosto a las 8:00 Horas sustituyendo a 40 Latino ( gracias a moods )
Canal + Two: Monday August 23 at 8:00 am replacing 40 Latino

MTV : 30 de Agosto
MTV: August 30

La 10 : 20 de Septiembre
The 10: September 20

Marca TV : 28 de Agosto a las 9:00 Horas
Brand TV: August 28th at 9:00 hours

Boing : 1 de Septiembre a las 8:00 Horas
Boing: September 1 at 8:00 am

You may need to perform a channel rescan to have these channel included in your TDT Receiver.

Some community digital television systems may need to be upgraded to allow for these new frequencies.
