A few days ago, the Sky Movies Standard Definition channels, changed their frequencies.

The Sky Movies channels used to be on frequency 11836 H.

But a few days ago, they changed to a new frequency.

The Disney Cinemagic channel will be closing in late March, so it’ll no longer appear on your Sky TV Guide from this time.

If you don’t have the Sky Movies Pack but pay for Disney Cinemagic as a standalone channel, you'll no longer see this channel on your bill.

Sky Movies 007 logo ahead of October 5 launch of the James Bond Channel on Sky Movies

Sky Movies has today unveiled the logo and advert for Sky Movies 007, the satellite TV giant's new channel dedicated to superspy James Bond.

Launching on October 5 in both standard and high definition, Sky Movies 007 will make use of Sky's recent deal with MGM and EON Productions to the entire collection of James Bond movies.

All 22 Bond films will be shown on the channel without any adverts; from Dr No in 1962 to the last Bond film, Quantum of Solace, starring Daniel Craig. Sky, which poached the rights from ITV, has also snapped up two non-EON produced titles - the 1967 Casino Royale spoof Bond film and Never Say Never Again.

The new Sky Movies 007 logo features the famous 007 gun emblem from the Bond franchise, marking the first time that a movie emblem has been incorporated into a Sky channel brand.

It will get its first on-air outing today in a television and cinema advert for the channel, which blends various famous Bond car chase sequences using footage form Dr No, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, The Spy Who Loved Me, The Living Daylights, Goldeneye, The World Is Not Enough and Quantum of Solace.

Produced in-house by Sky Creative, the ad features all the actors who have played Bond over the years - Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig. "The Sky Movies 007 HD logo marks the first time in Sky Movies' history we've incorporated the logo of another film brand into our own; partnering our logo with Bond's 007 emblem shows just how passionate and excited we are about the arrival of this brilliantly British film franchise to our service in its 50th anniversary year," Sky's brand director Lucian Smithers said.

The new channel launches to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Bond franchise, as Dr No was released on October 5 in 1962. Sky Movies customers will also be able to watch all the 22 Bond films on-demand via Sky Anytime+ on the television, or on other devices via the Sky Go service. Anyone who subscribes to Sky Movies via NOW TV, Sky's new internet-delivered TV service, will also be able to watch the entire Bond back catalogue. Skyfall, the 23rd movie in the franchise, will be available to rent through Sky Store and air on Sky Movies in 2013.

Sky package changes from 1st September 2011

Sky TV will be freezing their subscription prices until the 31st August 2012, for customers who join prior to 31st August 2011.

It has also been confirmed that Sky TV will be changing thier channel structure.

Gone are the 6 genre mixes of Variety, Knowledge, Lifestyle, Music, Childrens and News and Events.

In comes Entertainment and Entertainment Extra.

From initial channel lists, it looks like the current Variety and Lifestyle genres will be in the Entertainment pack. This pack will cost £20.

The other four genres, Music, News and Events, Knowledge and Childrens, will be included in the Entertainment Extra mix. The cost of Entertainment and Entertainment Extra per month will be £25.

However, you will not lose channels with this shuffle around. In fact, Sky TV says that you will still receive all the channels you currently receive now. And some clients will receive more channels, yet, pay the same subscription as they currently do.

So, if you currently have two genres, for example the Variety and Childrens, and currently pay £20.50, then from 1st September, you will still pay £20.50, but will have access to all channel in the Entertainment pack, and all channels in the Entertainment Extra pack. But you will see your price increase in 1st September 2012 to £25 (or more if they increase it!).

All new Sky TV customers signing up after 31st August 2011 will pay either £20 or £25 per month.

So for 1 year you can be paying the same price as you are currently, but then in 1 years time your price may well increase.

The Sky Sports and Sky Movie channel prices have also been frozen for 1 year. So in addition to your "Genre" or Entertainment mix price, these prices will be applied for the premium Sky TV channels.

Sky Movies for Free - Free weekend soon

From 6pm Friday 29th October to 6am Monday 1st November, Sky Movies Showcase (Sky channel 303) will be free to all nonsky movies subscribers.

This will also apply to the Sky Movies Showcase HD channel also (Sky HD 314)

It will not be available to freesatfromsky card users.

The weekend includes a selection of movies that will keep the whole family amused, including thepetrol-head sequel Fast & Furious, the adaptation of popular rom-com novel Confessions of a Shopaholic, buddy comedy Role Models, and the animated adventure featuring John Travolta voicing a dog who thinks he's a superhero in Bolt.

And for those of you watching in HD, you can see all the movies showing in the Free Weekend in ridiculously sumptuous detail. So if you've only ever seen Forrest Gump when you rented it on video, or A Bug's Life back when your dad recorded it onto VHS, you're going to be stunned by how good films can really look.

According to the latest Sky magazine, Sky movies will be free to all nonsky movies subscribers.

Tihs will also apply to the HD Sky Movie channel also.

This will be from 6pm on Friday October 2010 until 6am on Monday 1st November 2010.

This will be similar to this last weekends free sky sports day, and will be available to SKY SUBSCRIBERS ONLY.

It will not be available to freesatfromsky card users.

This is the wrong card for this set top box

Some people have been experiencing an on screen message on the television screen informing them that "This is the wrong card for this set top box" on their Sky digibox with the new white Sky card.

This problem is easily resolved.

The new white sky viewing card is in hibernation, after not getting the "keep alive" signal from the satellite.


Where as the old yellow house Sky cards displayed the "To subscribe to this channel call ....)" on all scrambled channels if they were hibernating, the new white sky viewing cards display "This is the wrong card for this set top box", irrespective of whether the card be in the right box or not.
 
As before, leaving in a sky box that is turned on and receiving channels shold wake them up over the next 24 hours.
 
The same message will also be displayed if you are using your Sky Subscription card in another sky box, and trying to watch the Sky premium channels, like Sky Sports or Sky Movies.
