ITV launches international pay platform for ITV progammes for expats

ITV is launching a new international service that will make it possible for ex-pats and holiday makers to watch their favourite soaps while abroad.

ITV Essentials will be available in 12 European territories for a monthly subscription of €5.49. ITV Essentials will stream all episodes of Britain’s favourite soaps - Coronation Street and Emmerdale - without ads and will include a 30 day catch up window.

Countries: Austria, Belgium, France, Greece, Gibraltar, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain

ITV Essentials will initially only be available on laptops or computers connected to a fixed broadband line. The service is currently not available on Tablets or mobile devices, but an iOS app for iPhone and iPad is in development.

Sky Sports and ITV to lose Champions League rights to BT Sports for £1bn..?

There are reports that BT Sports are in the final phases of negotiations to acquire the UK broadcast rights to UEFA Champions League and Europa League matches in a £1bn 3 year deal.

This would take the matches away from the current shared holders of Sky Sports and ITV from the 2014/15 season.

REIGNING William Hill Grand Slam of Darts champion Raymond van Barneveld will take on shooting star Ricky Evans in the opening session of the £400,000 tournament on Saturday November 9 as the nine-day event begins in Wolverhampton.  Dutch legend van Barneveld heads Group E for the round-robin stage of the Sky Sports-televised event, which sees the 32 players split into eight groups of four players, with the top two from each group progressing to the knockout stage from the second round onwards
