Frequency changes for many UK TV channels today

As part of the agreement between Eutelsat and SES, and as part of the satellite renewal program at 28 east, many channels are changing frequencies, as they are moved between the satellite.

Included in these frequency changes are BT Sport, Discovery channels,

Viewers with Sky and Freesat receivers: Frequency changes should be handled automatically by the receiver.

Viewers with other satellite receiver may have to perform a rescan to continue to view channels that have changed frequencies.

BBC Radio change of frequencies via satellite

As mentioned on a previous post

the BBC have been making some frequency changes to some of their TV and Radio channels.

Well, last night the last of these changes, to BBC Radio frequencies, has taken place.
The BBC Radio channels that used to be on frequency 11954H have now been moved and split between two other frequencies, as detailed below:

Sky box and Freesat box users should not have to change anything as these changes should happen automatically.

Users of any other types of bexes will have to perform a rescan of the new frequencies should they wish to continue to listen to these BBC Radio channels.

BBC TV and Radio changes happening on the 12th and 15th October

Some more BBC TV and Radio changes happening on the 12th and 15th October which may affect your reception of some BBC TV services in Spain.

Changes include the reduction in the number of "Red Button" streams, some frequency changes for BBC Three, CBBC, BBC News, BBC Four, CBeebies, BB

C ALBA and BBC One North East and Cumbria and BBC radio stations. Sky and Freesat boxes should automatically update to the new frequencies. Other boxes will require a "rescan"

If you have a Sky viewing card, Irish versions of the Channel 4 channels are on frequency 12480 V 27500 2/3 - the Irish version of the Channel 4 group of channels.

Irish TV Channels In Spain Irish TV channels are spread over many frequencies. The main Irish TV channels, like RTÉ One, RTÉ Two, TG 4, TV 3 are available on frequency 10744 H 22000 5/6. Irish TV channel 3e is on frequency 11261 H 27500 2/3. All the main Irish TV channels require a Sky veiwing card registered at an Irish address to view. You cannot use a Sky card at a UK address to view Irish TV channels.

BBC to change HD frequencies in September 2012

During the early hours of 27 September 2012, the BBC will be making some changes to its BBC HD frequencies and transponder.

These changes include chaning from QPSK to 8PSK, and changing the FEC from 8/9 FEC to 2/3.

This will allow more HD capacity and channels on the BBC HD transponder. And this extra HD capacity will be used for the forthcoming launch of BBC One HD for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

[B]The BBC HD Changes For Sky Box Users[/B]

If you have Sky, you should not notice the change and shouldn't have to do anything on or after 27 September. If you do have an issue receiving the BBC HD channels from this date you can try unplugging your Sky set top box, waiting 30s and plugging it back in again. If that doesn't resolve your problem it's best to contact Sky on 08442 411 653.

[B]The BBC HD Changes For Freesat Box Users[/B]

If you have Freesat you may need to put your HD box or TV into standby for 30 seconds and then switch it back on again to continue to receive the two BBC HD channels; if the channels are still unavailable then carry out a 'Freesat channel retune'. During last year's changes we found that a small number of devices didn't store the information after a Freesat retune so if that happens try a 'first time installation' or 'full factory reset'. BBC Olympic Frequencies

A list of frequencies for the BBC Olympic Streams.
These 24 Olympic channels are already available to Sky and Freesat digibox users.

BBC Olympic streams - frequencies and channel numbers for Sky and Freesat receivers in Spain

The BBC Olympic sports streams are now available on Sky, Sky HD, Sky+HD, Freesat and Freesat HD receivers.

Sky platform channel numbers are 450-473 for SD and 474-497 for HD

Freesat platform channel numbers are 151-174 with channel number 150 being a "red button" channel
If your Freesat receiver is SD then only SD channels are shown.
If your Freesat receiver is HD then only HD channels are shown.

Reception of the BBC Olympic streams should be good in most areas of Spain. Some of these BBC Olympic channels can be received on an 80cm satellite dish, others will need a 1m satellite dish.

For users of other satellite receivers in Spain, then you will have to manually scan s to add these BBC streams to your receiver.

BBC Channels to move to Astra 1N Friday 24th February 2012

The BBC channels, BBC1, BB2, BBC3, BBC4, BBC1HD, BBCHD, CBBC, CBeebies, will be moving from Astra 2D to Astra 1N this coming Friday.

There will be no change of frequencies.

The BBC channels will be using the same frequencies as they currently do.

However, this will mean that reception of these BBC channels in Spain will be much better than currently.

In some areas, they should be able to be received on a small 80cm or 1m satellte dish, where are previously they may not have been available even on a 2.4m satellite dish.

If you are unable to receive these channels, then no reception of these channels may require dish realignment, a new LNB or a larger satellite dish - such as a 1m satellite dish.

This follows the recent move of the ITV and channel 4 group of channels to Astra 1N in the last few weeks.

Fox Movies and Fox Series on Nilesat and Arabsat Frequencies

Fox Movies and Fox Series are available on frequencies on two satellite groups: on Nilesat / Atlantic Bird at 7 West, and Arabsat / Badr at 26 East.

Fox Movies is a 24 hour film channel. Broadcasting films from all genres - comedy, drama, action, sci-fi, horror and thrillers. Given its connections to Hollywood through 20th Century Fox Studios, Fox Movies offers an excellent choice of movies. Some of the broadcast movies contain swearing, violence and sexual content.

Nilesat and Arabsat are satellites that offer a range of free to air channels to the Middle East. They show a range of UK and USA imported TV shows. Many of these are broadcast in English, although they do tend to have hard coded Arabic subtitles.

How do I add Freesat channels to Sky?

Freesat channels are "Free to air" channels, and require no viewing card.

A Sky box without a Sky card will recive the same "free to air" channels as a Freesat box.

So, all channels that are available on Freesat will already be available via the Sky Guide....

Except maybe Channel Five, which you may have to add manually:

ITV1+1 starts on Sky 131 and Freesat channel 112

ITV are using 6 macro regions for ITV1+1 (and 1 each for Stv and UTV)

It has also meant that ITV2+1 has moved to 179

And that ITV4+1 is no longer on the SKy channel guide and not on Sky channel 228, as that had to be removed to make way for ITV1+1. But it is still available on the Freesat guide, and I am sure that you can, should you want to, add ITV4+1 to your "other channels" list by scanning frequency 10832 H
