Astra 2F UK Satellite changes last night - potentially some loss of UK TV channels in some areas of Spain

Astra 2F UK Satellite changes last night - potentially some loss of UK TV channels in some areas of Spain

A few (not all!) channels and frequencies moved from their old satellite to the new Astra 2F satellite last night.

The channels and frequencies affected are :
10.964 H SR 22.000 FEC 5/6 (CH5/5USA/5*/Channel 5+1),
10.994 H SR 22.000 FEC 5/6 (ITV 1 Granada HD/ITV 1 Central South West SD/ITV 1 Anglia West SD/ITV 1 Meridian North SD/ITV 1 Yorkshire East SD/ITV 1+1 Yorkshire SD),
11.052 H SR 22.000 FEC 5/6 (ITV 1 Central South SD/ITV 1 Central East SD/ITV 1+1 Wales SD/ITV 1+1 Westcountry SD/ITV 1+1 Tyne Tees SD)
11.126 V SR 22.000 FEC 5/6 (Channel 4 HD/4Seven SD)

People in some areas may notice loss of these channels on smaller 80cm or 1m dishes (especially if they are not aligned properly!)

But this does not mean the other channels (BBC ITV C4s) will not be moving - it is simply a question of when!

Lost reception of ITV1 Mer SE (Meridian South East) from Sky box Other Channels?

Originally posted at : http://www.satandpcguy.com/forum/sho...and-ITV-Player

If you access ITV1 via other channels, and use ITV1 Meridian South East (Mer SE), then you will find that you are getting a "no satellite signal is being received" message.

This is because ITV1 Meridian South East (Mer SE) have changed frequencies.

ITV1 Meridian South East (Mer SE) is no longer on freqency 12402 v 27.5 2/3.

ITV1 Meridian South East (Mer SE) new frequency is 10891 H 22.0 5/6.

ITV1 Meridian South East (Mer SE) new frequency is on the Astra 1N satellite. This has also meant that ITV1 Meridian South East (Mer SE) is now free to air, and no longer requires a Sky card to view.

It is expected that a few other ITV1 regions on frequency 12402 v, that require a Sky card to view, may also move to other frequiencies on Astra 1N in the coming weeks.

Channel Five, Five * Five USA - change of frequencies for reception on Sky boxes. Channel Five in Spain

Channel Five and its sister channels Five* and Five USA has today changed frequency.

It is no longer available on its old frequency of 12442 H.

The Channel Fives are now located on the new frequency of 10965 H 22000 5/6

This new frequency for the Channel Fives is on the new Astra 1N satellite.

This new Channel Five frequency has a very good strong signal here in Spain and the Costa Blanca, and should be easily available on an 80cm satellite dish. If you can receive True Movies (sky channel 321), then you should be able to receive Channel Five on its new frequency. If you cannot receive Channel Five, and you are receiving a "no signal is being received" message, then either your satellite dish may need to be realigned, or it may be too small toreceive Chanel Five on the new frequency..

Sky boxes should will automatically change to the new Channel Five frequency, and users need to do nothing.

Freesat boxes: this does not affect Freesta users at the moment, but you will have to performa Freesat channel scan on the 8th December 2011 to inlcude the Five channels into your Freesat channel list.

Any other receivers will need to be manually updated, via the installation menu, for the new Chanel Five frequency on Astra 1N

Have you lost BBC News, BBC Alba and BBC Parliament on a small satellite dish in Spain?

As discussed on

http://www.satandpcguy.com/forum/showthread.php?78664-BBC-News-Alba-and-Parliament-Red-Button-frequency-changes-in-September-and-October

the BBC are cost cutting and reducing the number of BBC satellite TV frequencies they use for their BBC satellite TV channels.

This means that BBC News, BBC Alba and BBC Parliament will no longer be available on a small satellite dish in Spain.

Freesat box users may already have noticed that if you try to watch BBC News, BBC Alba and BBC Parliament ona small satellite dish in Spain, then you may be getting a "no signal" message on your screen.

This is because your Freesat receiver has been updated to look at the new BBC TV frequencies for BBC News, BBC Alba and BBC Parliament. The new satellite tv frequencies for BBC News, BBC Alba and BBC Parliament are only available on "big 1.8m 1.9m 2.4m satellite dishes" in Spain and the Costa Blanca.

It is expected that Sky box users in Spain using a small satellite dish will notice they are getting a "no satellite signal being received" message from Monday 26th September, when Sky box frequencies for BBC News, BBC Alba and BBC Parliament are changed.

The new frequencies for BBC News BBC Alba and BBC Parliament are:

BBC News frequency 10803 H 22000 5/6
BBC Alba frequency 10818 V 22000 5/6
BBC Parliament frequency 10788 V 22000 5/6

Problems with Starmax satellite in Spain?

A few months ago saw the launch of a new satellite TV service for Spain called Starmax. It offered a smal;l selection of channels, some in HD.

However since it launch there have been various complaints from people about its service, including the lack of a functioning EPG.

However, this Friday 1st July the cannels they carry cease transmission.

Many users started to report that even though they had paid their subscription, there was no satellite signal being received.

Over the hours the following events have been noticed:

1. The Starmax Facebook page has been disabled.

2. The official website of Starmax no longer allows you to activate a viewing cared - instead you have to call them by phone.

3. At 17:00 pm on Sunday, some 48 hours with no signal, there was a message informing users that the disruption is due to technical problems at Starmax.

So either they have some severe technical problems, or perhaps they have not kept up-to-date with payments to their satellite provider.

Getting "no signal" for Teledeporte on Spanish TV?

Recent changes to some of the frequencies used for Spanish TV may mean that you are receiving a "NO SIGNAL" message when trying to watch some Spanish digital TV channels.

One of the more popular Spanish TV channels affected is Teledeporte, the free sports channel on TDT.

Basically, some of the TDT channels have changed frequencies.

So all you need to do to get them back is to rescan, normally using the "install" options on your TDT receiver.

This should scan all the available frequencies used for TDT and your channels should then reappear.

This may not be the case for some community systems, where additional "frequency modules" may need to be installed to receive these new frequencies.

Nickelodeon channels have moved frequency

The Nickelodeon channel have moved frequency.
It has affected:
Nickelodeon Europe
Nick Replay
Nick Toons
Nick Junior

This has meant that some people will be receiving the "no signal" message on their Sky box when wanting to watch these channels.

The new frequency for these channels is a North Beam frequency. The north beam frequency means that reception will be tricky in the afternoon, when the north beams are weakest, and that these channels will be pretty much unavailable on smaller dishes like they used to be.
