Sky News / Pick TV changing frequency this week.

The frequency used for Sky News and Pick TV (and a few other Sky channels) is changing this week.

Currently the frequency 12207 V has an FEC of 2/3.

On the 16th April 2015 at 0430, the FEC for this frequency will change to 5/6

New channels coming to Freesat - Pick, Challenge and Sky News

Challange, Pick TV and Sky News will be launching on Freesat Monday 3rd December.

They are expected to be on the following Freesat channel numbers.

144 - Pick TV
145 - Challenge
202 - Sky News

Pick and Challenge have only this year been "free to air" and not requiring a Sky card to view.

All three channels have been available to Freesat users in "non freesat mode".

But it now looks like these three channels will now be avilable in Freesat mode.

Challenge TV and Pick TV currently "free to air" / FTA

For the last few days both Challenge Tv and Pick TV have been available free to air / FTA.

This mean that they do not require a sky card to view.

Challenge TV is / was part of the Sky subscription service.
Pick TV is / was "free to view" and although did not require a subscription, did requrie a viewing card.

Challenge TV is available on Sky channel 125
Pick TV is available on Sky channel 152

Frequencies:
If you do not have a SKy box then these are the frequencies for these two channels:
Challenge TV frequency 11.565 V, SR 27.500, FEC 2/3
Pick TV frequency 12.207 V, SR 27.500, FEC 2/3

It is unknown if these channels being available for free is temporary, a glitch, or permanent.

Sky 3 rebranded as Pick TV

If you have lost Sky 3, then is has only been rebranded as Pick Tv.

Sky 3 to relaunch as Pick TV

According to reports, BSkyB is to rebrand its free-to-air channel Sky 3 as part of the wider changes taking place at the broadcaster.
