UK Freeview is NOT available in Spain

UK Freeview is not available in Spain, despite UK TV installers other people in Spain saying UK Freeview IS available in Spain.

UK Freeview is only available in the UK.

UK Freeview is received by a TV aerial in the UK.

UK Freeview is transmitted from land based mast in the UK, masts such as Emley Moor and Crystal Palace.

UK Freeview signals do not reach Spain. They do not even cover the UK 100%!

UK Freeview cannot be received by a satellite dish. They are two different broadcast systems.

Motors TV now free to view on Sky

Motors TV, which used to be part of the Sky TV subscription service, is currently available to view for free.

Howeve, to watch Motors TV, you still need a sky card, as Motors TV is "free to view", and not "free to air".

So if you have a freesatfromsky viewing card, you can now receive Motors TV with no subscription on Sky channel 413.

As Motors TV is "free to view" and not "free to air" it will not be available on "Freesat" boxes or other free to air satellite receivers.

I do not know if this is a permanent thing, but it is there at the moment, and should be able to be receive on a small 80cm satellite dish.

Channel 4 HD coming to Freesat in April (ie free to air and not free to view as it currently is)

Channel 4 and Freesat have announced that Channel 4 HD will launch on the subscription-free satellite platform in the spring.

It will be availabe Free to Air on freesat HD receivers from April 2011.

Channel 4 HD will become the fourth HD channel on Freesat, joining BBC One HD, the BBC HD channel and ITV1 HD.

Channel 4 HD launched on Sky in 2007 and has since become available on Virgin Media in summer 2009 and the Freeview HD platform in April last year.

It is unknown at the moment what the reception of C4HD will be for expats in Spain and the Costa Blanca, or if the Sky C4HD service will contimue.

The current C4HD service is available with a Sky card and even on a 80cm satellite dish here in Spain.

It is currently unknown if the freesat free to air version of C4HD will be the same (unlikely!), as per BBC1 and BBC HD (big satellite dish required and should be 24/7 coverage), or as per BBC2 England (partial coverage on a big satellite dish)
