Sky Channel Changes 1st February 2011
Here are details of when the Sky channel changes will happen. They will he happening during the day of the 1st February at various time, but mainly during the early hours of the morning to try and not disprut and viewng or recordings.

Eight Sky TV channels will be off the air from around 2am until about 4am while Sky prepare for changes to the channel numbers in our entertainment line-up. During this period, there will be brief outages and you will see a placeholder banner advising you that no programmes are being broadcast. You do not need to adjust your TV set or Sky box. The following channels are affected:

Living
Living HD
Living ROI
Living+1
Livingit
Livingit+1
Challenge
Challenge+1

And Channel One, formerly Vigin Channel on Sky will close down.
At 6am, Channel One on Freeview will close, to be replaced on Freeview by Challenge.

HD channel changes: once the changes have taken place, the channel numbers on your TV listings for Entertainment and Music will have changed. HD customers will notice that some HD channels now have the same channel numbers as their standard definition counterparts. The Living channels: Living, Living HD, Living ROI, Living+1, Livingit, Livingit+1 become "Sky Living." Sky Living moves to channel 107 for both HD and standard definition.

At 9pm the new Sky channel, Sky Atlantic, will launch on channel 108 in HD and standard definition.

Freesat boxes gets full Red button service

Freesat launches in 2008, helping providing digital TV to areas of the UK that were unable to receive the terrestrial Freeview service.

The BBC Red Button Interactive service on Freesat was never as complete as the service offered on Sky, Virgin Media and Freeview.

However, all Freesat boxes are now able to receive a fuller and more complete "red button" service, and can now have access to the more of the video content that was made available on Sky, Virgin and Freeview.

This will include the BBC Sport Multiscreen service.

Other services will include the new Being Human spin off, Becoming Human, available from 30 January, along with more exclusive content from comedy show Episodes.

More Sky Package channel changes - Sky Arts and MTV to join variety pack

With the Sky channel number changes, and new sky channels liek Sky Atlantic comoing soon (1st Feb 2011) there are a few additions to the Sky Pay TV packages also.

Sky customers with the variety pack will have MTV, Sky Arts 1 and 2 added to the varierty pack for no extra cost.

Could be down to how Sky are compensating for the loss of Bravo from Sky channels?

Bravo channels TNA Wrestling will return to Sky TV on Challenge

According to Sky TV, TNA Wrestling will return to UK TV soon.

From February Challenge TV (on Sky channel 125), will be showing TNA Wrestling programming, including all the episodes that have not been show in the past few weeks.

According to reports, BSkyB is to rebrand its free-to-air channel Sky 3 as part of the wider changes taking place at the broadcaster.

Sky Channel Changes February 2011 - MTV, SyFy, FX, Comedy Central

Sky will be changing their programme numbers for some of the channels on their Pay TV packages.

In addition to some of the Sky HD channels taking over their standard definition channels, MTV, Comedy Central, Universal, Syfy and FX being given higher profile channel slots in the entertainment section of the EPG.

The SKy channel changes include:

Comedy Central move from channel 126 to 112,
Universal will relocate from 130 to 113
Syfy will shift to channel 114 from 129,
FX will upgrade to 124 from 164
MTV will move to 126 from 350

Also,
Sky1 at channel 106,
Sky Living (formerly the Living channel) at 107
Sky Atlantic channel at 108.

Formula One coverage goes HD for 2011

Formula One fans can look forward to watching television coverage in High Definition this year after Formula One Management announced that all broadcasters will receive an HD feed for 2011.

From the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix in March, coverage of all 20 rounds - including all practice sessions and support events - will be originated in HD, with the international feed then offered throughout the world at a data rate of 42 Megabits/second (MPEG-2).

A number of major broadcasters have already confirmed that they plan to show 2011 races in HD, with many other channels expected to follow suit before the season gets underway.

The news follows extensive research, development and investment by FOM to ensure the best possible HD offering for its global TV audience, which is currently in excess of 500 million unique viewers annually.

and it has been confirmed that the BBC will be offering the HD feed for Formula One in 2011, for broadcast on BBC One HD and BBCHD.

ITV1+1 frequencies and regions

ITV1+1 starts on Sky 131 and Freesat channel 112

ITV are using 6 macro regions for ITV1+1 (and 1 each for Stv and UTV)

It has also meant that ITV2+1 has moved to 179

And that ITV4+1 is no longer on the SKy channel guide and not on Sky channel 228, as that had to be removed to make way for ITV1+1. But it is still available on the Freesat guide, and I am sure that you can, should you want to, add ITV4+1 to your "other channels" list by scanning frequency 10832 H

ITV1+1 on Sky channel number.....

ITV1+1 will be on Sky Channel 180, reports suggest.

This EPG number is currently occupied by ITV4+1, but it is showing no programme data from Tuesday 11th January, therefore we can assume that the data is not available as the channels will not be available as it will be replaced by ITV1+1.

However, another report has suggested that ALL ITV"1+1" channels will be moving around to other Sky channel numbers:
ITV1 +1 - 131
ITV2 +1 - 179
ITV3 +1 - 180
ITV 4 +1- 228

ITV1+1 will launch on Tuesday 11th January

Sky Atlantic - new channel from Sky in 2011

Sky has today unveiled an advertising campaign for new entertainment channel Sky Atlantic featuring Hollywood legend Dustin Hoffman.

On February 1, Sky Atlantic will launch in standard and high definition in the UK and Ireland, offering hit US shows such as Boardwalk Empire, Treme and Blue Bloods.

To promote the channel, Sky has created a 60-second trailer featuring Hoffman - whose first ever TV series Luck will get its UK premiere on Sky Atlantic later in the year - discussing the art of storytelling against the New York skyline.

The ad will premiere on television this weekend, while a special "Dustin Hoffman creative" will appear on Sky's website and in Sky Magazine Live, Sky's online customer magazine.

"We are absolutely delighted to have Dustin Hoffman film our launch trail for Sky Atlantic HD," said Stuart Murphy, the Sky Atlantic director of programmes.

Sky Atlantic will provide an exclusive home to some of the most hotly anticipated shows in television.

Sky Atlantic HD will air all of HBO's new series exclusively.

Sky Atlantic will provide an exclusive home to some of the most hotly anticipated shows in television.

Sky Atlantic HD will air all of HBO's new series exclusively.

Sky Atlantic forms part of Sky's Variety Pack of basic channels.

Sky Atlantic will launch on 1st February 2011.

Sky Atlantic will be on Sky channel 108.

Sky1 will remain on Sky channel 106, with Sky Living Sky on channel 107 and Sky Atlantic on Sky channel 108.

According to reports, the ITV Player is presently working on Humax Freesat receivers with an enabled broadband connection.

This is only in test mode only atthe moment and is NOT an official release.

It is only available to people who have a UK ADSL / Boradband internet connection.

Closure of Bravo on Sky and Virgin: TNA Wrestling Impact

As a result of the closure of Bravo on Sky and Virgin, many people are wondering what is happening to their programmes they used to watch on Bravo.

TNA Wrestling fans have been asking when TNA Wrestling programming would be made available to the Sky channels.

From Sky: "TNA will be broadcast on a different Sky channel when Bravo closes, we are trying to find out which channel this will be and will let you all know as soon as we find out"
